Manor Mead School

Rainbow Classes

Pupils who are placed in the Rainbow Classes at Manor Mead have a Primary Need of autism. Most admissions are through the Infant Placement Panel for pupils with Autism.

The classes have a high degree of structure and routine supported by visual cues.

Pupils may be taught to use PECS or signing to support their communication development. Emphasis is placed on developing play skills and independent working through TEACCH tasks.

Although they are separate from the main school building, Rainbow Classes are very much a part of the whole school community and use all the same facilities and equipment as well as joining up with other classes for assemblies and playtimes.
