Federated Governing Body of Manor Mead and Walton Leigh Schools
Following a public consultation, in October 2014 Manor Mead and Walton Leigh Schools formalised their already close working relationship for the benefit of pupils and their families, to support high quality learning in both schools and enable the continuity of high expectations for all pupils from 2- 19 and beyond. Each school retains its individual status and character but with a single governing body. In September 2021, a satellite site of Manor Mead was opened at Virginia Water, to accommodate up to 60 primary aged pupils with Autism and/or Communication and Interaction needs.
The role of our Governing Body is to:
- Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
- Oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
Manor Mead School and Walton Leigh School were Federated under a single Governing Body on 1st October 2014.
The Constitution allows for 15 Governors, consisting of:
- 2 Headteacher governors (if a separate Headteacher is in
role at each school) - 2 Parent governors (one from each school)
- 1 Staff governor
- 1 Local Authority governor
- 9 Co-opted governors
..plus Associate Members, appointed for their specific skills and expertise who are called upon by the Governors as required. No Associate Members have voting rights.
The Full Governing Body meets 6 times per year. In
