Manor Mead School Virginia Water
A specialist centre for primary aged children with Autism and/or Communication and Interaction needs (High COIN)
We are delighted to announce the opening in September 2021 of a temporary two-year ‘satellite’ expansion of Manor Mead School, on behalf of Surrey County Council.
The new satellite provision will be located at Christchurch Road, Virginia Water and will open in September 2021 for a new cohort of up to 40 local primary aged children with Autism and/or Communication and Interaction needs, expanding to 60 children from September 2022.
This new provision will create urgently needed additional specialist school places, whilst Surrey County Council completes the statutory process for opening a new special school in 2023-2024.
Pupils and families at the new provision will benefit from our well-established ethos, clear vision, values, and a skilled, innovative, energetic and committed staff team with a strong record of providing high quality education to pupils with complex needs and autism. This is a fantastic opportunity to extend that offer to a greater number of local Surrey pupils and their families. We are also very excited about the professional development opportunities that this will provide for existing staff within the Federation.
Alice Chandler will manage the Virginia Water site with a skilled team of staff, initially to support four classes, each with up to 10 children. Pupils will access the National Curriculum but with extensive additional support in place to develop their social, emotional and communication needs.
Alice has a wealth of experience and comprehensive knowledge of best practice of Early Years and Primary SEN, having worked at Manor Mead for 12 years.
